Histec is an allergy medicine used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic hives in adults and children over 6 years old.

How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mg (1 lozenge) once daily. Children 6-12 years: 5 mg (half a lozenge) twice daily. For kidney problems, consult a doctor.

Method

Let the lozenge dissolve in your mouth, with or without water. The lozenge can be divided into equal doses.

Important

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of 10 mg.

  • Blurred vision
  • Uncontrolled eye rolling (oculogyric crisis)
  • Drug rash (drug allergy)
  • Abnormal urination (painful urination and/or difficulty urinating, bedwetting)
  • Memory loss, memory impairment
  • Increased appetite
  • Suicidal thoughts, nightmares
  • Vertigo (feeling of spinning or movement)
  • Urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder)
  • Severe itching and/or hives when stopping the medicine
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Rash with pus-filled blisters (acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis)
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have severe kidney disease requiring dialysis.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 3 days or get worse.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have epilepsy, risk of seizures, kidney problems, or difficulty urinating.
  • Stop using Histec 3 days before any allergy tests.

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
  • Be cautious when driving or operating machinery, as this medicine might affect your reactions.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
