Histec is an allergy medication used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and chronic hives in adults and children over 6 years old.

How to Use

Dosage

For adults and adolescents over 12 years: 10 mg (1 tablet) once daily. For children aged 6-12 years: 5 mg (half a tablet) twice daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose if you have kidney problems.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.

Important

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

  • Aggression, confusion, depression, hallucinations, insomnia
  • Hives (nettle rash)
  • Low blood platelet count
  • Eye problems (e.g., difficulty focusing, blurred vision, involuntary eye movements)
  • Fainting
  • Tremor
  • Taste disturbances
  • Muscle problems (e.g., abnormal muscle tone, uncontrolled movements, tics)
  • Urinary problems (e.g., bedwetting, painful urination, difficulty urinating)
  • Drug rash
  • Increased appetite
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Memory loss or impairment
  • Suicidal thoughts, nightmares
  • Inability to empty bladder completely (urine retention)
  • Intense itching and/or hives upon stopping medication
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Blistering rash (acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis)
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you have severe kidney disease requiring dialysis.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives, or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Consult your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Consult your doctor if you have epilepsy or are prone to seizures.
  • Histec may increase the risk of difficulty urinating (urine retention) if you have problems emptying your bladder.

  • Stop taking Histec 3 days before an allergy test, as it can affect the results.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years old.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • Avoid using Histec during pregnancy.
  • Do not use Histec while breastfeeding without first talking to your doctor.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor.
