How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one capsule three times a day.

Method

Swallow the capsule with a glass of water, preferably before your main meals. You can take the first dose at any time of day.

Important

Do not take more than three capsules in a single day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
RARE
  • Skin rash and reddening of the skin
  • Swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue (angioedema)
  • Widespread skin rash, fever, and swollen lymph nodes (DRESS syndrome)
  • Sudden, severe allergic reactions including difficulty breathing, swelling, dizziness, fast heartbeat, sweating, and feeling faint.
  • Other skin problems, such as hives, red patches on skin and in mouth, or itchy skin.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Hidrasec if you are allergic to racecadotril or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take Hidrasec if you have had a severe skin rash, peeling skin, blisters, or mouth sores after taking racecadotril.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Hidrasec if your stools contain blood or pus, or if you have a fever. This could mean you have a bacterial infection that needs specific treatment.
  • Talk to your doctor if your diarrhea is long-lasting or caused by antibiotics.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have prolonged or uncontrolled vomiting.
  • Stop taking Hidrasec and get medical help right away if you experience swelling of your face, lips, throat, or tongue, which could be a sign of a severe allergic reaction (angioedema). This swelling can happen at any time during treatment.
  • Stop taking Hidrasec and see a doctor right away if you develop a widespread rash, fever, or swollen lymph nodes, as these can be symptoms of a severe skin reaction (DRESS syndrome).
  • Hidrasec contains lactose (a type of sugar). If you have been told by your doctor that you cannot tolerate some sugars, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
