Hidrasec is a medicine used to treat the symptoms of acute diarrhea in children older than three months.

How to Use

Dosage

The dose depends on your child's weight, usually 1.5 mg per kg of body weight, three times a day.

Method

Mix the granules with food or water (in a glass or baby bottle), stir well, and give to your child immediately.

Important

The maximum dose is 1.5 mg per kg of body weight, three times a day. Treatment should not exceed 7 days.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils)
  • Rash
  • Redness of skin
  • Red patches on arms, legs, and in the mouth
  • Swelling or inflammation of the tongue, face, lips, or eyelids
  • Hives (itchy rash)
  • Lumps under the skin
  • Small, hard bumps on the skin
  • Itching (on the rash area or all over the body)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if your child is allergic to racecadotril or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Stop using this medicine and contact a doctor immediately if your child develops a severe skin rash, skin peeling, blisters, or mouth sores.
  • Do not use if your child is under three months old, has bloody or pus-filled stools with a fever, has chronic diarrhea, or diarrhea caused by antibiotics.
  • Talk to a doctor if your child has kidney or liver problems, prolonged or uncontrolled vomiting, or diabetes (due to sugar content).
  • Stop immediately and seek medical help if your child's face, lips, tongue, or throat swell, or if they have trouble swallowing or breathing, as these could be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
