How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the correct dose based on the type of examination you are having. Typically, adults receive 4-7 ml per limb, and children aged 1-2 years receive 1 ml per limb.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection. You might also receive fluids intravenously before or after the procedure to ensure you are well-hydrated.

Important

Do not use more than 20 ml of this medicine at one time for any single procedure.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Pain at the injection site
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., skin rash, itching, swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure)
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • Underactive or overactive thyroid
  • Blood clots in lungs or brain
  • Liver damage or liver failure
  • Fluid buildup in the abdomen (ascites)
  • Skin tissue death (necrosis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to etiodized oil or any iodine contrast agents.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid or any other thyroid problems.
  • Do not use if you have recently had a severe injury or bleeding.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or have a pelvic infection and are scheduled for a uterine and fallopian tube X-ray (hysterosalpingography).
  • Tell your doctor if you have a severe disease affecting your heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys.
