How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the correct dose for you.

Method

The medicine is given slowly as an injection directly into a vein, usually not faster than 4 ml per minute.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose; do not exceed it.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic symptoms such as rash, itching, shortness of breath, low blood pressure, palpitations, swelling in face or throat, nausea, and vomiting.
  • Fever.
  • Blood clots, including in the lungs.
  • Development of antibodies against von Willebrand factor.
  • Breakdown of red blood cells (hemolysis).
  • Increased blood volume (hypervolemia).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Haemate if you are allergic to von Willebrand factor, Factor VIII, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If you experience a severe allergic reaction (such as swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, or breathing problems), stop use and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If your bleeding cannot be controlled with Haemate, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have a heart condition or risk factors for heart disease, tell your doctor.
  • If you have von Willebrand disease and known risk factors, you have an increased risk of blood clots. Ask your doctor for advice before use.

  • Haemate must not be mixed with other medicines or liquids.
  • Use Haemate during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.
  • If you take too much medicine, contact your doctor or a poison control center immediately.
  • Do not stop using Haemate without talking to your doctor.
