How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 2 mg, followed by 1-2 mg every 4 hours until bleeding has stopped for 24 hours.

Method

The medicine is injected directly into a vein (intravenously) only in hospital settings by trained personnel.

Important

Treatment should not last longer than 48 hours.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Abdominal pain
  • Low sodium levels in the blood
  • Headache
  • Chest pain
  • Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
  • Increased heart rate
  • Constriction of peripheral blood vessels
  • Cyanosis (bluish skin due to lack of oxygen)
  • Fluid accumulation in the lungs
  • Shortness of breath
  • Insufficient blood flow to the limbs
  • Paleness
  • High blood pressure
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
RARE
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Myocardial infarction (heart attack)
  • Torsades de pointes (a serious heart rhythm disorder)
  • Heart failure, with symptoms like shortness of breath, tiredness, and swollen ankles
  • Insufficient blood flow to the intestines
  • Hot flushes
  • Breathing difficulties and respiratory failure
  • Skin necrosis (tissue damage)
  • Necrosis (tissue damage) at the injection site
  • Uterine contractions
  • Reduced uterine blood flow

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Glypressin if you are allergic to its active substance or any other ingredient, or if you are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, or septic shock.
  • It is important to tell your doctor if you are taking heart medication, as Glypressin may increase their effect.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking medicines that can cause irregular heartbeats, such as anti-arrhythmics, certain antibiotics, antihistamines, antidepressants, or medicines that alter blood salt or electrolyte levels.
  • Do not use Glypressin while breastfeeding.
