GlucaGen is an emergency medicine used for children and adults with diabetes who use insulin and become unconscious due to very low blood sugar, also known as severe hypoglycemia, when they cannot take sugar by mouth.
For adults, inject the entire amount of the solution (1 ml). For children under 8 years old or children over 8 years old weighing less than 25 kg, inject half the amount of the solution (0.5 ml). For children over 8 years old weighing more than 25 kg, inject the entire amount of the solution (1 ml).
First, mix the GlucaGen powder with the solvent in the syringe. Then, inject the dose under the skin or into a muscle. Turn the unconscious person onto their side to prevent choking.
This medication is intended for single emergency use. Taking too much GlucaGen may cause severe nausea or vomiting, but usually no specific treatment is needed.
