How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will calculate your dose based on your body size, typically 1000-1250 mg for each square meter of your body surface.

Method

The medicine is given as a drip into a vein after it has been mixed. Each drip takes about 30 minutes.

Important

Your doctor will adjust your dose based on your blood tests and overall health; there isn't a fixed maximum daily dose.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to gemcitabine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • You will need regular blood tests before and during treatment to check your organ function and blood cell counts.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had a severe rash, peeling skin, blisters, or mouth sores after taking gemcitabine.
  • Inform your doctor about any existing liver, heart, blood vessel, lung, or kidney conditions.

  • Tell your doctor if you have recently had or plan to have radiation therapy or any recent vaccinations.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe breathing problems, extreme weakness, pale skin, swelling, sudden weight gain, severe skin reactions (like blisters or peeling), headaches with confusion, seizures, or vision changes.
  • Men should not father children during treatment and for 3 months afterwards, and should consider sperm banking. Women capable of becoming pregnant must use effective birth control during treatment and for 6 months after the last dose.
  • This medicine can make you drowsy, especially with alcohol. Do not drive or use machines until you know how it affects you.
