How to Use

Dosage

Take 10-20 ml (oral suspension) about 30 minutes after meals, when symptoms appear, and just before going to bed.

Method

Shake the suspension well before use. The dose can be taken with a small amount of water. Do not drink directly from the bottle.

Important

Do not take more than 40 ml per day without consulting a doctor, especially if used long-term or on a low-sodium diet.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to the active substances or any other ingredient in Gaviscon.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Gaviscon if you have severe kidney problems, especially if you are on dialysis.
  • If your pain is severe or symptoms do not improve after long-term use, contact a doctor for further investigation.
  • This medicine can affect how other medicines are absorbed and work. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking. For example, Gaviscon reduces the effect of iron medicines; take them at least two hours apart.
  • Do not take Gaviscon at the same time as juice or other acidic drinks.

  • Gaviscon contains sodium. If you are on a low-sodium diet, or use Gaviscon frequently or for a long time, consult your doctor. This is important for children on a low-sodium diet too.
  • Gaviscon contains preservatives (methylparahydroxybenzoate E 218 and propylparahydroxybenzoate E 216) which may cause allergic reactions, possibly delayed.
