How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, usually 15 mg or 30 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water at least 30 minutes before a meal. Do not crush or chew it.

Your doctor will decide your maximum daily dose. It is usually not more than 30 mg a day, but for certain conditions, your doctor may prescribe a higher dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, feeling sick or throwing up, gas, dry or sore mouth/throat
  • Skin rash, itching, tiredness
RARE
  • Depression, restlessness, confusion, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, drowsiness
  • Vision problems, vertigo, changes in taste, feeling like insects are crawling on skin, trembling
  • Severe skin rashes, skin redness, bruising, sensitivity to light, hair loss, hives, swelling of face/tongue/throat (angioedema)
  • Joint or muscle pain, fever, fluid retention or swelling, loss of appetite, anemia (paleness)
  • Kidney problems, inflammation of the pancreas or tongue, changes in blood cell counts, low levels of magnesium or sodium in the blood, male breast enlargement, impotence, yeast infections

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lansoprazole or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Stop taking and contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions, such as widespread red patches or blisters.
  • If you get severe or persistent diarrhea, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Long-term use (over one year) may slightly increase your risk of bone fractures.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or vision problems, so be careful when driving or using machines.

  • Long-term use may impair vitamin B12 absorption if you are prone to it.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For short-term use only. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with clopidogrel and (es)citalopram. Avoid long-term use. Long-term use carries an increased risk of adverse effects. Risk of hypomagnesemia in prolonged use. (updated 10.11.2025)
