How to Use

Dosage

One or two 15 mg capsules once a day.

Method

Swallow capsules whole with water, at least 30 minutes before a meal, preferably in the morning. Do not crush or chew them.

Important

Maximum 2 capsules (30 mg) per day, for up to two weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, gas, dry or sore mouth/throat, benign stomach polyps
  • Rash, itching
  • Changes in liver blood tests
  • Tiredness
RARE
  • Fever
  • Restlessness, drowsiness, confusion, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there), sleep problems (insomnia), vision problems, spinning sensation
  • Changes in taste, loss of appetite, inflamed tongue
  • Skin reactions like burning or tingling under the skin, bruising, redness, and heavy sweating
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Hair loss
  • Feeling of insects crawling on the skin (paresthesia), tremor (shaking)
  • Anemia (paleness)
  • Kidney problems
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Enlargement of male breasts, impotence
  • Yeast infection (fungal infection of the skin or mucous membranes)
  • Swelling of face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, difficulty breathing (angioedema)
  • Red, raised target-like patches on skin (erythema multiforme)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (liver inflammation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lansoprazole or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious liver disease.
  • Inform your doctor if you have had a skin reaction to similar medicines or if you develop a rash, especially on sun-exposed skin.
  • If you get persistent or severe diarrhea while taking Gasterix, contact your doctor right away.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy.

  • This medicine can cause dizziness or vision problems, so be careful when driving or operating machinery.
  • Always tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, including herbal remedies and over-the-counter drugs.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For short-term use only. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with clopidogrel and (es)citalopram. Avoid long-term use. Long-term use carries an increased risk of adverse effects. Risk of hypomagnesemia in prolonged use. (updated 10.11.2025)
