How to Use

Dosage

One pre-filled syringe (0.25 mg) once daily. Your doctor will tell you when to start, usually on day 5 or 6 of your treatment cycle.

Method

Inject the medicine slowly under the skin, usually in your thigh. Pinch your skin to make a fold, then put the needle into the fold at a 45-degree angle.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one pre-filled syringe (0.25 mg). Do not take more than this each day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Redness or swelling where you injected the medicine, usually gone within 4 hours.
RARE
  • Headache.
  • Feeling sick (nausea).
  • Feeling generally unwell or vomiting.
  • Skin rash.
  • Swelling of the face.
  • Trouble breathing.
  • Hives (itchy red welts on the skin).
  • Stomach pain.
  • Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), which means your ovaries overreact to the fertility medicines.
  • Ectopic pregnancy (when the embryo grows outside the womb).
  • Miscarriage.
  • Existing eczema getting worse.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to ganirelix, GnRH (gonadotropin-releasing hormone), or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have moderate to severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have a serious allergic reaction (like hives, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing), stop using the medicine and get medical help right away.
  • Be aware of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), which can happen during fertility treatment. Your doctor will monitor you for this.

  • Fertility treatments, including this medicine, may slightly increase the risk of birth defects or ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the womb), especially if your fallopian tubes are damaged.
  • Tell your doctor if you weigh less than 50 kg or more than 90 kg, as the effects have not been fully studied for these weight groups.
