Galantamin Orion is a medicine for adults that helps treat mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease by increasing a substance called acetylcholine in the brain to improve brain function.
Treatment usually starts with a low dose of 8 mg once a day, which your doctor may slowly increase over time.
Swallow the capsule whole with water or other liquid in the morning, preferably with food, and do not chew or crush it; remember to drink plenty of fluids.
The maximum daily dose is 24 mg, taken once a day.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Increases the risk of cardiac conduction disorders, such as bradycardia. May exacerbate existing COPD. Consider adverse effects affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions. Avoid concomitant use of anticholinergic medicines. (updated 18.3.2024)
