Galantamin Orion is a medicine containing galantamine, used to treat mild to moderately severe Alzheimer's disease in adults, which is a type of dementia affecting brain function.
The usual starting dose is 8 mg once a day. Your doctor may slowly increase the dose over several weeks until you reach the right dose for you.
Swallow the capsules whole with water or other liquid in the morning, preferably with food. Do NOT chew or crush them.
The maximum daily dose is 24 mg once a day.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Increases the risk of cardiac conduction disorders, such as bradycardia. May exacerbate existing COPD. Consider adverse effects affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions. Avoid concomitant use of anticholinergic medicines. (updated 18.3.2024)
