Galantamin Krka is a medicine for dementia used to treat symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease by increasing a chemical called acetylcholine in the brain.
The usual starting dose is one 8 mg capsule once a day.
Swallow the capsules whole with water or another liquid in the mornings, preferably with food. Do not chew or crush them. If you have trouble swallowing, you can open the capsule and swallow the contents with liquid. Remember to drink plenty of fluids during treatment.
The maximum daily dose is one 24 mg capsule.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Increases the risk of cardiac conduction disorders, such as bradycardia. May exacerbate existing COPD. Consider adverse effects affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions. Avoid concomitant use of anticholinergic medicines. (updated 18.3.2024)
