Gadovist is a contrast agent used in MRI scans to help doctors see details in the brain, spine, blood vessels, and other body parts, and to check for abnormal changes.
The usual dose for adults is 0.1 ml per kg of body weight, and for children, the dose is also 0.1 ml per kg of body weight.
A healthcare professional will give you Gadovist as an injection into a vein using a small needle, and your MRI scan can start right after.
The maximum total dose is 0.3 ml per kg of body weight for some scans. For patients with kidney issues or babies under 1 year, only one dose per scan should be given, and no new injection for at least 7 days.
