How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, usually starting with 300-900 mg daily.

Method

Take tablets whole with plenty of water. Take your daily dose in three separate doses: one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening.

Important

Do not take more than 3600 mg in one day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Viral infections
  • Feeling sleepy, dizzy, or having trouble with coordination
  • Feeling tired or fever
RARE
  • Other infections (like lung, respiratory, urinary, or ear infections)
  • Changes in appetite (eating more or less)
  • Mood changes (like feeling confused, anxious, depressed, or irritable)
  • Headaches, memory loss, or shaking (tremors)
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, or constipation
  • Swelling of the face, arms, or legs
  • Muscle or joint pain
  • Rashes, itching, or acne
  • Weight gain
  • Erectile dysfunction (trouble with erections)
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Severe skin reactions (like widespread rash, fever, or skin peeling)
  • Muscle weakness or pain, especially with fever (could be serious muscle breakdown)
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
  • Developing dependence on the medicine
  • Breathing problems or shallow breathing
  • Suddenly stopping the medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, nausea, or pain.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Gabrion if you are allergic to gabapentin or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Be aware of possible dependence: feeling like you need to take the medicine longer, more than recommended, or for other reasons; feeling bad when stopping and better when restarting.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide.
  • Stop taking Gabrion and see a doctor right away if you get severe skin rashes, fever, or skin peeling (signs of serious skin reactions).

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience muscle weakness, tenderness, or pain, especially with sickness or high fever, as it could be a serious muscle breakdown.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning to get pregnant. Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you, as it can cause dizziness or drowsiness.
  • If you take antacids (stomach acid reducers) containing aluminum and magnesium, take Gabrion at least two hours after the antacid.
  • Do not stop taking Gabrion suddenly. Talk to your doctor first, who will help you stop gradually over at least one week.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects. Take the several interactions in the absorption phase into account. (updated 14.4.2025)
