How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take. Adults usually start with 300-900 mg daily, increasing up to 3600 mg daily, split into three doses.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with plenty of water. You can take them with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 3600 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Viral infections, tiredness, fever.
  • Dizziness, drowsiness, problems with coordination, seizures, jerky movements, speech problems, memory loss, tremors, difficulty sleeping, headache, numbness, tingling, confusion, mood changes, anxiety, depression.
  • Blurred vision, double vision, vertigo, sore throat, cough, dry nose, ear infections.
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, indigestion, gas, dry mouth or throat.
  • Rash, itching, acne, joint pain, muscle pain, back pain, muscle twitching.
  • Swelling in arms and legs, weight gain, high blood pressure, flu-like symptoms, erection problems, accidental injuries.
RARE
  • Agitation (restlessness), allergic reactions like hives, falls, impaired mental performance.
  • Decreased movement, rapid heartbeat, swelling in face or body, difficulty swallowing, loss of consciousness, shallow breathing.
  • Increased or decreased blood sugar levels (especially in diabetics).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to gabapentin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be changed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse, as you may be at higher risk of becoming dependent on this medicine.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor right away.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor immediately if you get severe skin rashes, blisters, peeling skin, or a widespread rash with fever.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also feel unwell or have a high fever.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you have severe breathing difficulties.
  • This medicine can make you dizzy or sleepy. Do not drive or use machines until you know how it affects you.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects. Take the several interactions in the absorption phase into account. (updated 14.4.2025)
