How to Use

Dosage

Typically 300–900 mg daily to start, with the dose gradually increased by your doctor.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food. Take your daily dose divided into three parts: morning, afternoon, and evening.

Important

The maximum dose is 3,600 mg per day.

  • Reduced blood platelets (cells that help blood clot), leading to easy bruising or bleeding
  • Suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, impaired mental performance
  • Unusual movements like twitching, stiffness, or writhing
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), liver inflammation, sudden kidney failure
  • Breast enlargement, chest pain
  • Muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Changes in blood test results (e.g., high creatine phosphokinase levels)
  • Sexual problems (difficulty achieving orgasm, delayed ejaculation)
  • Low sodium (salt) levels in the blood
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) with breathing problems, swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat
  • Development of drug dependence (needing to keep taking the medicine)
  • Withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, insomnia, nausea, pain, sweating) after stopping treatment

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to gabapentin or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • If you are on dialysis and experience muscle pain or weakness, tell your doctor.
  • Seek medical help right away if you have severe stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting, as these can be signs of pancreatitis (swelling of the pancreas).
  • Tell your doctor if you have nervous system or breathing problems, or if you are over 65 years old, as your dose may need to be adjusted.

  • Contact your doctor right away if you have thoughts of harming yourself.
  • Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help if you develop severe skin reactions, such as widespread blisters or rashes with fever, which can be life-threatening.
  • If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can cause severe seizures.
  • This medicine can make you feel dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
