How to Use

Dosage

Method

The medicine is given as an injection (shot) into a vein or muscle.

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose to ensure your safety.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, general feeling of unwellness, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation.
  • Pain when urinating, if you have bladder or prostate problems.
  • Difficulty controlling blood sugar if you have diabetes.
  • Increased urination (usually starts 1-2 hours after the dose).
  • Pain at the injection site (when the medicine is injected into a muscle).
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, such as intense itching, rash, hives, fever, difficulty breathing, pale skin, fast heartbeat, red spots on the skin, joint pain, eye inflammation, or severe skin reactions where the skin may peel off.
  • Severe upper stomach pain that spreads to your back (a sign of pancreatitis).
  • Signs of kidney inflammation, such as blood in your urine and lower back pain, or sudden kidney failure.
  • Easy bruising or bleeding, increased infections (like sore throat, mouth sores, fever), feeling unusually weak or tired (may be due to blood cell problems).
  • Intense thirst, headache, dizziness, fainting, confusion, muscle or joint pain or weakness, cramps, or stomach problems (signs of severe dehydration or chemical imbalance).
  • Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, weakness (signs of metabolic acidosis).
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, or coma (signs of severe liver problems).
  • A life-threatening state of unconsciousness (coma).
  • Hearing difficulties or ringing in the ears (tinnitus), especially for people with kidney problems.
  • Tingling, itching, or numbness in the skin for no reason.
  • Minor mood changes, such as feeling restless or anxious.
  • Severe dizziness, fainting, loss of consciousness (due to low blood pressure), headaches, difficulty concentrating, slow reactions, drowsiness, weakness, vision problems, or dry mouth.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Inflammation of blood vessels.
  • Lack of sodium (causing dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, weakness, lack of appetite, calf cramps).
  • Lack of potassium (causing muscle weakness, paralysis, increased urination, heart problems, in severe cases intestinal issues or confusion that can lead to coma).
  • Lack of magnesium and calcium (causing increased muscle irritability and irregular heartbeats).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to furosemide or any other ingredient in this medicine, or if you are allergic to similar 'sulfa' medicines.
  • Do not take if your body is severely dehydrated, you have low blood volume, or you have difficulty urinating.
  • Do not take if your blood potassium or sodium levels are very low, or other chemicals in your blood are out of balance.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease that affects your consciousness.
  • Do not breastfeed while using this medicine, as it can pass into breast milk and stop milk production.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have difficulty urinating, such as due to an enlarged prostate.
  • If the medicine is given to premature babies, their kidneys will be closely monitored.
