How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the dose is usually 20-120 mg at the start of treatment, then 20-40 mg daily or every other day for maintenance. For children, it's 1-3 mg/kg per day.

Method

Swallow tablets whole on an empty stomach (at least one hour before or two hours after eating) with water. You can break the tablet in half if it's hard to swallow whole. Take the medicine regularly at the same time each day.

Important

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dehydration (body losing too much fluid)
  • Imbalance of salts in the body (e.g., low potassium, magnesium, sodium, or calcium)
  • Acid-base imbalance in the body
RARE
  • Impaired blood sugar regulation
  • High uric acid in blood, gout
  • Changes in blood fat levels
  • Decreased blood volume, low blood pressure
  • Nervousness, restlessness
  • Dizziness, headache, fainting, loss of consciousness (due to low blood pressure)
  • Sensory disturbances, vision disturbances
  • Hearing loss (sometimes permanent), ringing in ears (tinnitus)
  • Heart rhythm disturbances
  • Dry mouth, constant thirst
  • Nausea, bowel movement disorders
  • Muscle cramps
  • Urination problems, urinary retention
  • Weakness, fatigue
  • Bone marrow dysfunction, changes in blood cell counts (e.g., low white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets)
  • Inflammation of blood vessels, kidneys, or pancreas
  • Bile duct obstruction
  • Rashes, photosensitivity, severe allergic skin reactions (e.g., purple spots, peeling skin, blisters, sudden feverish rash)
  • Fever
  • Activation or worsening of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to furosemide, sulfonamides (like sulfa antibiotics), or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver problems, especially with confusion due to liver issues.
  • Do not take if you are severely dehydrated or have an imbalance of salts in your body (like low sodium or potassium).
  • Do not take if you are unable to urinate for an unknown reason.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart, kidney, or liver problems, diabetes, gout, or prostate issues, as you may need blood tests.
