Fulvestrant Stada Nordic contains fulvestrant, which blocks the effects of estrogen, a female hormone that can sometimes cause breast cancer to grow.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 500 mg (two 250 mg/5 ml injections) once a month. You will also receive an extra dose of 500 mg two weeks after your first dose.

Method

A doctor or nurse will slowly give you the injection into each of your buttocks.

Important

The maximum dose given at one time is 500 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Injection site reactions, such as pain or inflammation.
  • Abnormal liver enzyme levels (seen in blood tests).
  • Nausea.
  • Weakness, tiredness.
  • Joint pain and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Rash.
RARE
  • Headache.
  • Vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite.
  • Urinary tract infections.
  • Back pain.
  • Increased bilirubin levels (a bile pigment produced by the liver).
  • Reduced number of platelets (thrombocytopenia).
  • Vaginal bleeding.
  • Lower back pain radiating to one leg (sciatica).
  • Sudden weakness, numbness, tingling, or loss of movement in the leg, especially on one side of the body; sudden problems with walking or balance (peripheral neuropathy).
  • Thick, whitish vaginal discharge and yeast infection (candidiasis).
  • Bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
  • Increased gamma-GT levels (a liver enzyme seen in blood tests).
  • Numbness, tingling, and pain.
  • Anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reactions).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to fulvestrant or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use effective birth control during treatment and for two years after the last dose if you can become pregnant.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems. Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have low platelet counts, bleeding disorders, a history of blood clots, or if you use blood thinners.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have osteoporosis (weak bones).

  • Talk to your doctor if you have alcoholism.
  • This medicine may not affect your ability to drive or use machines, but if you feel tired, avoid driving or operating machines.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you have an allergic reaction with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience a blood clot.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you have liver inflammation (hepatitis) or liver failure.
