How to Use

Dosage

You will usually receive 500 mg of Fulvestrant Stada (two injections) once a month. After your first dose, you will receive another 500 mg dose two weeks later.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you the injection slowly into each of your buttock muscles.

Important

The maximum dose given at one time is 500 mg. This is usually given once a month, with an additional dose two weeks after the first dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain or swelling where the injection was given.
  • Unusual levels of liver enzymes (seen in blood tests).
  • Feeling sick (nausea).
  • Feeling weak or very tired.
  • Joint or muscle pain.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Skin rash.
  • Allergic reactions, like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Headache.
  • Vomiting, diarrhea, or not wanting to eat.
  • Urinary tract infections.
  • Back pain.
  • Increased bilirubin levels (a substance from the liver).
  • Blood clots (increased risk).
  • Low number of blood platelets.
  • Vaginal bleeding.
  • Lower back pain that goes down one leg (sciatica).
  • Sudden weakness, numbness, tingling, or trouble moving a leg, especially on one side, or sudden problems walking or balancing (nerve damage in the legs).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis).
  • Liver failure.
RARE
  • Thick, whitish vaginal discharge and yeast infection.
  • Bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
  • Increased gamma-GT levels (a liver enzyme seen in blood tests).
  • Numbness, tingling, and pain.
  • Very serious allergic reactions (anaphylactic reactions).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to fulvestrant or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems.
  • Discuss with your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have low blood platelets or bleeding disorders.
