These eye drops contain two medicines (timolol and pilocarpine) that help lower eye pressure for treating glaucoma or high eye pressure.

How to Use

Dosage

One drop in the affected eye twice a day.

Method

Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid, and put one drop into your eye. Close your eye and press the inner corner of your eye with your finger for 2 minutes to keep the medicine in. Do not touch the tip of the bottle to your eye or other surfaces. If you use multiple eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between different medicines.

Important

Do not use more than one drop twice daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Temporary stinging or burning in the eye, eye redness, eye pain, itchy or irritated eyes, blurred vision, increased tears, nearsightedness, poor vision in dim light, and problems with eye focus.
RARE
  • Dry eyes, inflamed eyelids and eye surface, reduced sensitivity of the eye's surface, minor inflammation on the eye's surface, vision problems, double vision, drooping eyelid, retinal detachment, bleeding in the eye, stiff iris, cysts or widened blood vessels in the iris, eyelid muscle spasms, narrowing of the front part of the eye, temporary cloudy lens, eye ulcers, eye surface inflammation, detachment of a layer beneath the retina after eye surgery.
  • Slow heart rate, low blood pressure, heart failure (shortness of breath, swollen legs), irregular heartbeat, chest pain, fast heartbeat, swelling (fluid retention), heart attack, poor circulation in hands, feet, and brain (Raynaud's phenomenon).
  • Shortness of breath, tightening of airways (especially in patients with asthma or heart failure), stuffy nose, cough.
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, taste changes, indigestion, dry mouth, stomach pain.
  • Depression, fatigue, anxiety, dizziness, confusion, nightmares, weakness, sleeplessness, memory loss, hallucinations, fainting, stroke, worsening muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), unusual sensations like tingling.
  • Allergic reactions (rash, hives, hair loss, sudden swelling of face/limbs, trouble breathing/swallowing, severe itching, sudden life-threatening reaction), silvery-white rash (like psoriasis) or worsening of psoriasis, muscle pain not from exercise, increased saliva, sweating.
  • Sexual problems, decreased sex drive.
  • Low blood sugar.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to timolol, pilocarpine, beta-blockers, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have heart rhythm problems (irregular or slow heartbeat), heart failure, or have had these conditions.
  • Do not use if you have or have had breathing problems like asthma or severe chronic obstructive bronchitis (a serious lung disease causing wheezing, breathing difficulties, or a long-lasting cough).
  • Do not use if you have acute iritis (inflammation of the colored part of the eye) or an eye disease where narrowing of the pupil should be avoided.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had coronary artery disease (chest pain, shortness of breath), low blood pressure, or peripheral artery disease (like Raynaud's disease).

  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or an overactive thyroid, as this medicine may hide symptoms of low blood sugar or overactive thyroid.
  • Tell your doctor before any surgery or anesthesia that you are using these eye drops, as timolol can affect other medicines used during anesthesia.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had severe allergies (anaphylaxis), a brain circulation disorder, myasthenia gravis (a rare muscle weakness), a corneal disease (causing dry eyes), or any eye disease requiring eye surgery.
  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor says it's necessary, as timolol can pass into breast milk. If you are pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice.
  • This medicine can affect your vision, especially in the dark, and may make you tired or dizzy due to lowered blood pressure, so be careful when driving or using machines.
  • This medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, which can irritate eyes, especially if you have dry eyes or corneal problems. It can also discolor soft contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before using the drops and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in.
