How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 75–150 IU once daily, adjusted as needed. For assisted reproduction, the starting dose is usually 150–225 IU daily.

Method

The medicine is injected under the skin once a day.

Important

Maximum dose for lack of ovulation is usually 225 IU per day; for assisted reproduction treatments, it is a maximum of 450 IU per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Mild Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) symptoms, such as stomach pain.
  • Headache.
  • Feeling bloated in the stomach.
  • Constipation.
  • Pain at the injection site.
RARE
  • Overactive thyroid gland.
  • Mood changes.
  • Feeling tired.
  • Dizziness.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Feeling sick, upset stomach, or stomach pain.
  • Skin rash or itching.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Bladder infection.
  • Enlarged breasts or breast pain.
  • Difficulty stopping bleeding.

Important Warnings

  • This treatment can increase your risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), which causes symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight gain. If this happens, stop treatment and call your doctor right away.
  • There is a higher chance of having twins or more babies with this treatment than with natural conception.
  • Do not use Fostimon Set if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had allergic reactions to similar medicines in the past.
  • Do not use if you have enlarged ovaries or cysts not caused by hormone issues, unexplained vaginal bleeding, cancer of the ovaries, uterus, or breasts, or a tumor in your brain.
