Fortibec is an inhaler that contains two medicines to reduce lung inflammation and relax airway muscles, making it easier to breathe for people with asthma and COPD.

How to Use

Dosage

Take 1 to 2 puffs twice a day, usually in the morning and evening.

Method

Remove the cap, breathe out slowly. Put your lips around the mouthpiece, breathe in slowly and deeply, and press down on the inhaler. Hold your breath, then breathe out slowly. Rinse your mouth with water after each use.

Important

Do not take more than 8 puffs in a 24-hour period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fungal infections in the mouth or throat
  • Headache
  • Hoarseness
  • Sore throat
  • Pneumonia in COPD patients (symptoms include fever, chills, increased mucus, changes in mucus color, increased cough, or difficulty breathing)
RARE
  • Pounding heart (palpitations)
  • Unusually fast or irregular heartbeat, changes in ECG
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Vaginal fungal infections
  • Sinus infection
  • Runny nose
  • Ear infection
  • Throat irritation
  • Cough and cough with mucus
  • Asthma attack
  • Nausea
  • Changes in taste or loss of taste
  • Burning sensation in lips, dry mouth
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Indigestion, stomach upset
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle pain and muscle cramps
  • Facial redness, excessive sweating, tremor
  • Restlessness, dizziness, hives or rash
  • Changes in blood test results (e.g., low white blood cells, high platelets, low potassium, high blood sugar)
  • Decreased cortisol levels in blood (mainly in COPD patients)
  • Chest tightness, skipped heartbeats, high or low blood pressure, kidney inflammation, skin and mucous membrane swelling lasting several days
  • Shortness of breath, worsening of asthma, decreased platelets, swelling of hands and feet
  • Blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Fortibec if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, or an irregular heartbeat.
  • If you have diabetes, this medicine might increase your blood sugar. Your doctor may need to check your blood sugar often.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had tuberculosis or other lung infections.
  • Always rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth after using the inhaler to help prevent mouth infections.

  • If your breathing gets worse right after using Fortibec, stop using it immediately, use your rescue inhaler, and contact your doctor right away.
  • If you experience signs of an allergic reaction like skin rash, itching, or swelling of your face, lips, or throat, seek medical help immediately.
  • Fortibec is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not use Fortibec with beta-blockers, including eye drops, as it can reduce the effect of Fortibec.
