Forminet is a medicine containing metformin, used to treat type 2 diabetes by helping to lower blood sugar levels, especially for overweight patients when diet and exercise are not enough.
The typical starting dose for adults is 500 mg or 850 mg, taken 2-3 times a day. For children aged 10 and above, it's usually 500 mg or 850 mg once a day. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose.
Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew them. Take Forminet with or after meals to avoid stomach upset. If you take it once a day, take it in the morning. If twice, morning and evening. If three times, morning, midday, and evening.
For adults, the maximum daily dose is 3000 mg, divided into three doses. For children and adolescents (10+), the maximum daily dose is 2000 mg, divided into two or three doses.
