How to Use

Dosage

Typically, adults take 5 tablets (5 mg) every 1 to 7 days, as directed by your doctor.

Method

Take by mouth with plenty of liquid, with or without food. You can break the tablet in half, crush it, or mix it with liquid or soft food.

Important

Do not exceed 10 tablets (10 mg) in a single day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. If your doctor prescribes more than 5 tablets at once, you may need a stronger medicine.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., itching, rash, hives, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, trouble breathing or swallowing).
  • Feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), diarrhea, or gas.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Folvite if you are allergic to folic acid or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Only use Folvite if a doctor or pharmacist tells you to, because it can hide a lack of vitamin B12.
  • If you have cancer, talk to your doctor before taking Folvite.
  • Stop taking Folvite and get medical help right away if you have a serious allergic reaction: itching, rash, hives, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing.
