How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children 12 years and older, the usual starting dose is 2 sprays in each nostril once daily. When symptoms are controlled, you can reduce to 1 spray in each nostril once daily. For children 6-11 years, the usual starting dose is 1 spray in each nostril once daily. If symptoms are very severe, your doctor may increase the dose to 2 sprays in each nostril, then reduce it back to 1 spray.

Method

Spray the medicine into your nose as a fine mist. Be careful not to get the spray in your eyes; if it happens, rinse your eyes with water. Use once daily, at the same time each day.

Important

Do not exceed the dose recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. The maximum dose is 2 sprays in each nostril once daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nosebleeds (usually mild), especially with continuous use for over six weeks.
  • Sores inside the nose, which may cause irritation and streaks of blood when blowing your nose.
  • Headache.
  • Shortness of breath.
RARE
  • Pain, burning, irritation, soreness, or dryness inside the nose.
  • Small holes (perforations) in the wall separating the nostrils.
  • Slowed growth in children.
  • Blurred vision or temporary changes in eyesight with long-term use.
  • Chest tightness causing difficulty breathing.
  • Voice changes or loss of voice.
  • Changes in taste, loss of taste, or loss of smell.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Fluticasone furoate Evolan if you are allergic to fluticasone furoate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Not for use in children under 6 years of age.
  • Long-term use may slow growth in children; your doctor will regularly check your child's height and ensure the lowest effective dose is used.
  • May cause eye problems such as glaucoma (increased eye pressure) or cataracts (clouding of the eye lens); tell your doctor if you have had these conditions or notice vision changes.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially steroid tablets, steroid creams, asthma medicines, HIV medicines (ritonavir, cobicistat), or fungal infection medicines (ketoconazole).

  • Do not use simultaneously with other steroid-containing nasal sprays.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
  • Benzalkonium chloride may cause irritation or swelling inside your nose; tell your doctor if you experience discomfort.
  • Never use a needle or sharp object to clean the nasal spray nozzle, as it can break it.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, such as wheezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, sudden weakness or fainting, facial swelling, or rash.
