How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose based on your health, weight, and organ function. It may be given daily or weekly.

Method

The medicine is diluted and given into a vein, either as a quick injection or a slow drip (infusion).

Important

Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose, which can be up to 600 mg per square meter of body surface area.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Hair loss and skin reactions, such as redness and swelling of hands and feet (hand-foot syndrome).
  • Fatigue, tiredness, and general weakness.
  • Mouth sores and loss of appetite.
  • Infections or increased risk of infection due to a weakened immune system.
  • Blood count changes, such as low white blood cell and platelet counts, and anemia.
RARE
  • Heart problems, such as abnormal rhythm, heart attack, or heart failure.
  • Severe allergic reactions, including life-threatening anaphylaxis.
  • Mental status changes, such as confusion, disorientation, or balance problems.
  • Kidney or liver damage.
  • Blood clots (thrombosis) or bleeding.
  • Seizures, headaches, or vision disturbances.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to fluorouracil or any of its other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have DPD enzyme deficiency, as this can increase your risk of severe side effects.
  • Avoid using this medicine if you have severe infections, such as chickenpox or shingles.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience new confusion, balance problems, or vision changes.
  • This medicine can make you sensitive to sunlight. Avoid direct sun exposure and sunbeds during treatment.
