How to Use

Dosage

A doctor will give you a small dose (usually 0.2–0.3 mg) into a vein, which can be given again if needed.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection directly into a vein or as a diluted drip (infusion).

Important

You should not receive more than 2.0 mg per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fast breathing, speech difficulties
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Nausea, vomiting (after anesthesia)
  • Tiredness
  • Agitation (after a fast injection)
RARE
  • Seizures (especially if you have epilepsy or liver disease)
  • Allergic reactions (including severe allergic reactions)
  • Anxiety, fear, panic attacks
  • Slow or fast heart rate, chest pain

Important Warnings

  • If you have epilepsy or have been taking benzodiazepines for a long time, this medicine may cause seizures.
  • If you have a severe brain injury, this medicine may increase pressure in your brain.
  • Your doctor will carefully adjust the dose if you have liver disease.
  • If you have had panic attacks before, this medicine may cause new attacks.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours after receiving this medicine, as you might become drowsy again.
