How to Use

Dosage

Take one 150 mg capsule as a single dose.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose for this treatment is one 150 mg capsule.

  • Decreased white blood cells (which help fight infections) and platelets (which help blood clot)
  • Red or purple discoloration on the skin due to low platelet count or other blood cell changes
  • Changes in blood chemistry (high cholesterol or fat levels)
  • Low blood potassium levels
  • Tremor (shaking)
  • Abnormal EKG (heart tracing), changes in heart rate or rhythm
  • Liver failure
  • Allergic reactions (sometimes severe), including widespread blistering rash, peeling skin, severe skin reactions, or swelling of the lips or face
  • Hair loss

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to fluconazole, any other antifungal medicine you've taken before, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are also taking astemizole, terfenadine (for allergies), cisapride (for stomach issues), pimozide (for mental health), quinidine (for heart rhythm problems), or erythromycin (an antibiotic).
  • Talk to your doctor if you are under 16 or over 50 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had a yeast infection more than twice in the last 6 months.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have a heart condition, including an irregular heartbeat.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have unusual levels of potassium, calcium, or magnesium in your blood.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact a doctor right away if you get severe skin reactions like itching, red skin, breathing difficulties, rash, peeling skin, blisters, or sores in your mouth.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are trying to get pregnant, unless your doctor has specifically told you to. Taking it during the first or second trimester might increase the risk of miscarriage or birth defects.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or seizures, which can affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Risk of QT prolongation. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor liver values. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with warfarin. (updated 4.12.2023)
