How to Use

Dosage

Method

Take the tablets between meals, at least one hour before or two hours after eating, with a full glass of water, and do not lie down right away.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea or diarrhea

  • Increased number of certain white blood cells (eosinophilia)
  • Hives
  • Itching
  • Severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, and trouble breathing. Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away.
  • Severe diarrhea, often with blood or mucus, stomach pain, and fever (pseudomembranous colitis). Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away.
  • Reduced white blood cells (agranulocytosis or neutropenia), causing fever, severe weakness, or local infection symptoms like sore throat, mouth pain, or urinary problems. Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away.
  • Signs of liver damage or disease, such as dark urine, pale stools, or yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice). Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away.
  • Sudden, severe skin rashes with blisters or peeling skin (e.g., erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis). These severe reactions can also include fever, eye sores, and joint pain. Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away.
  • Dizziness
  • Abdominal pain, vomiting
  • Severe skin reactions including red, scaly rashes with bumps under the skin and blisters. Contact a doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.
  • Low potassium levels in the blood (hypokalemia), which can cause muscle weakness, twitching, or an abnormal heart rhythm.
  • Pain in the esophagus (food pipe) and related symptoms like difficulty swallowing, heartburn, throat irritation, or chest pain.
  • Fungal overgrowth that can cause itching in the genital area or white coating in the mouth, especially on the tongue.
  • Very rare cases of blood and fluid imbalance (metabolic acidosis), where blood acidity increases when flucloxacillin is used with paracetamol, especially in at-risk patients.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to flucloxacillin, penicillin, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are elderly or have liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking flucloxacillin for a long time.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking paracetamol, especially in high doses, as flucloxacillin can cause serious blood and fluid changes when used together, and can also lower potassium levels.
