How to Use
Dosage
Take the dose exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Method
Take the tablets between meals, at least one hour before or two hours after eating. Swallow them whole with a full glass of water (250 ml) and do not lie down immediately afterwards to prevent throat irritation.
Important
Your doctor will determine the maximum daily dose suitable for you. Do not exceed the prescribed amount.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Nausea or diarrhea
- •Skin rashes
RARE
- •Severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, and trouble breathing. Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
- •Severe diarrhea, often with blood or mucus, stomach pain, and fever (signs of serious gut inflammation). Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
- •A serious drop in white blood cells, causing fever, severe weakness, throat or mouth sores, or trouble peeing. Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
- •Signs of liver damage, such as dark urine, pale stools, or yellow skin or eyes. Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
- •Sudden, serious skin reactions with blisters or peeling skin (e.g., erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome). May also include fever, eye sores, or joint pain. Stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
- •An increase in a specific type of white blood cells (eosinophilia).
- •Hives (itchy rash).
- •Itching.
- •Dizziness.
- •Stomach ache or vomiting.
- •Red, scaly skin rash with bumps under the skin and blisters (exanthematous pustulosis). Contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.
- •Low blood potassium, which can cause muscle weakness, twitching, or an unusual heart rhythm.
- •Pain in the food pipe (esophagus) and related symptoms like trouble swallowing, heartburn, throat irritation, or chest pain.
- •Fungal overgrowth, which may cause itching in the genital area or white coating in the mouth (especially on the tongue).
Important Warnings
- Do not take Flucloxacillin Orion if you are allergic to flucloxacillin, penicillin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, are elderly, have liver disease, are on long-term flucloxacillin treatment, or are taking paracetamol.
- High doses of flucloxacillin may lower your blood potassium levels. Your doctor may monitor this.
- Taking flucloxacillin with paracetamol, especially in high daily doses, can lead to a serious blood and fluid imbalance (metabolic acidosis), particularly in patients with kidney problems, sepsis, or malnutrition. This needs urgent medical care.
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

- Do not stop taking the medicine early, even if you feel better. Finishing the full course helps kill all bacteria and prevents the infection from returning.
