How to Use

Dosage

Adults and adolescents over 16 years: 100-1000 micrograms twice a day. Children and adolescents 4-16 years: 50-200 micrograms twice a day.

Method

Use the medicine only by inhaling it. Rinse your mouth with water after each use.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults and adolescents over 16 years is 2000 micrograms (1000 micrograms twice daily).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fungal infection in the mouth and throat (thrush)
RARE
  • Hoarseness
  • Easy bruising
  • Skin allergic reactions
  • Fungal infection in the esophagus (thrush)
  • Cushing's syndrome symptoms (e.g., weight gain in torso/face, muscle wasting, bone loss, high blood pressure, mental changes)
  • Adrenal gland not working well
  • Slowed growth in children and adolescents
  • Weak bones
  • Cataracts (clouding of the eye lens)
  • Glaucoma (eye pressure increasing)
  • High blood sugar
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep problems
  • Changes in behavior including hyperactivity and irritability (mainly in children)
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath right after using the inhaler (paradoxical bronchospasm)
  • Feeling down or depressed
  • Aggressive behavior (especially in children)
  • Nosebleeds
  • Blurred vision
  • Swelling of face and throat
  • Difficulty breathing and/or tightening of airways
  • Severe life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to this medicine or its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have respiratory infections (e.g., tuberculosis, fungal or viral infections).
  • If you have previously been treated with steroid tablets, follow your doctor's instructions carefully when switching to Flixotide Evohaler.
  • Do not stop using the medicine suddenly, as your symptoms may worsen.
  • Tell your doctor about any other medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter ones and herbal products, especially antiviral medicines (e.g., ritonavir) or medicines for fungal infections (e.g., ketoconazole).

  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
  • If your asthma symptoms worsen, do not change the dose without your doctor's permission.
  • Contact your doctor if you use your rescue inhaler more often than usual or if it doesn't work as well.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience vision problems like blurred vision, which could be signs of cataracts or glaucoma.
