How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 200 mg extended-release capsule once a day, but sometimes one 100 mg capsule per day is enough.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with liquid. You can take Flecainide Orion with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two 200 mg extended-release capsules (400 mg/day).

  • Lung diseases (pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease)
  • Liver problems

  • Muscle pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to flecainide or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe heart failure, very low blood pressure, or a slow heart rate.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have Brugadan syndrome (a rare heart condition).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have certain heart conduction problems (like sick sinus syndrome or AV block).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have abnormal heart rhythms after a heart attack (like ventricular extrasystoles or tachycardia).

  • Do not take this medicine if you have long-lasting atrial fibrillation that has not been converted to a normal rhythm.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe heart valve disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a heart attack before or have structural heart disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
  • Like other heart rhythm medicines, Flecainide Orion can sometimes cause new heart rhythm problems.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Start the treatment only in specialized care. Risk of QT prolongation. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. A significant adverse effect is torsades de pointes ventricular tachycardia. Consider the numerous potential interactions. (updated 19.5.2025)
