How to Use

Dosage

Use 1 vaginal ovule every evening; for Trichomonas-yeast infections, use for 10 days, and for bacterial vaginosis, use for 7 days.

Method

If the ovule is soft, cool it in cold water for a few minutes before opening. Tear open the wrapper, wash your hands, insert the ovule deep into the vagina, then wash your hands again.

Important

Do not use more than 1 vaginal ovule per day.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Flagyl Comp if you are allergic to metronidazole, nystatin, or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have blood disorders, problems with your thyroid or adrenal glands, or a severe nervous system disease, as Flagyl Comp should be used carefully.
  • If you have Cockayne syndrome, your doctor will regularly check your liver function during and after metronidazole treatment due to the risk of serious liver problems, including fatal cases.
  • Always tell the doctor or nurse taking your blood samples that you are using Flagyl Comp, as it may affect some test results.
  • Stop treatment and contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions like blisters, peeling skin, bleeding, a widespread red rash with bumps under the skin, or flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, or muscle pain. These can be signs of serious skin conditions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, AGEP, DRESS).

  • Stop taking Flagyl Comp and contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe stomach pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fever, general unwellness, fatigue, yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, itching, or local irritation, as these could be signs of serious issues.
  • Do not drink alcohol or use alcohol-containing medicines during treatment and for at least one day after stopping Flagyl Comp, as it can cause unpleasant reactions like flushing, vomiting, and a fast heartbeat.
  • Flagyl Comp should not be used during the first three months of pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, think you might be, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
  • If you experience dizziness, confusion, seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations), seizures, or temporary vision changes (like blurred or double vision) while using Flagyl Comp, do not drive or use machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. In topical use, there is absorption through mucous membranes and broken skin. Consider potential interactions especially with warfarin. (updated 21.10.2024)
