How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or nurse will decide your exact dose based on your weight and health.

Method

This medicine is given into a vein (intravenously) through a tube called a catheter, usually into a large vein.

Important

The maximum recommended dose is 35 ml per kilogram of body weight per day.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Finomel if you are allergic to fish, eggs, soy, peanut protein, corn, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have high fat levels in your blood.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have problems with your blood clotting.
  • Do not use Finomel if your body cannot process amino acids properly.

  • Do not use Finomel if you have severe kidney disease.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have too much sugar in your blood.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have very high levels of electrolytes (like sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, or phosphate) in your blood.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have problems with fluid overload, such as severe lung swelling or uncontrolled heart failure.
  • Do not use Finomel if you have a severe and sudden health problem like a serious injury, uncontrolled diabetes, heart attack, stroke, blood clot, metabolic acidosis (too much acid in the blood), severe blood poisoning, dehydration due to low blood pressure, or a coma from high blood sugar.
  • Stop the infusion right away if you notice signs of an allergic reaction like fever, chills, rash, or trouble breathing.
  • If you have trouble breathing, tell your doctor or nurse right away, as it could mean small particles are blocking blood vessels in your lungs.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you feel pain, burning, stiffness, swelling, or see skin discoloration at the infusion site, or if the infusion leaks.
