How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 40 kg, take one 0.5 mg capsule once a day. For children 40 kg or less, take one 0.25 mg capsule once a day.

Method

Take one capsule by mouth with a glass of water, once daily. Swallow the capsule whole; do not open it. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one 0.5 mg capsule per day, or the dose your doctor prescribed for children.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough with phlegm, chest discomfort, fever (signs of lung problems)
  • Herpes virus infection (shingles), which can cause blisters, burning, itching, or pain on the skin.
  • Slow heart rate, irregular heart rate
  • A type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma, often appearing as pearly bumps.
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Weight loss
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Blurred vision due to eye swelling (macular edema)
  • High blood pressure
RARE
  • A serious brain condition called PRES, with symptoms like sudden severe headache, confusion, seizures, or vision changes.
  • Lymphoma (a type of cancer that affects the immune system).
  • Squamous cell carcinoma (a type of skin cancer), which can appear as a firm, red lump or a sore that doesn't heal.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you have a weakened immune system.
  • Do not take if you have a severe infection or active cancer.
  • Do not take if you have had a heart attack, stroke, or irregular heartbeat in the last 6 months, or if you are taking certain heart rhythm medicines.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or could become pregnant and are not using effective birth control.
  • This medicine can slow your heart rate, especially when you first start taking it. Your doctor will monitor you.

  • There is a rare risk of a serious brain infection called PML. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice new or worsening symptoms like changes in mood, weakness, or vision.
  • This medicine can increase your risk of skin cancer. Protect your skin from the sun and have regular skin checks.
