How to Use

Dosage

Adults usually take one 0.5 mg capsule once a day. For children and adolescents (10 years and older), the dose depends on body weight: one 0.25 mg capsule daily if weighing 40 kg or less, and one 0.5 mg capsule daily if weighing over 40 kg.

Method

Take Fingolimod Medical Valley once a day with a glass of water. Swallow the capsule whole; do not open it. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than the recommended dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Flu-like symptoms (tiredness, chills, sore throat, muscle or joint pain, fever)
  • Sinusitis (pressure or pain in cheeks and forehead)
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Back pain
  • Increased liver enzymes (in blood tests)
  • Cough
  • Skin fungal infection (e.g., ringworm)
  • Dizziness
  • Migraine (severe headache with nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity)
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Eczema (itchy, red, burning rash)
  • Itching
  • High blood fat levels (triglycerides)
  • Hair loss
  • Shortness of breath
  • Depression
  • Blurred vision (may be a sign of macular edema, swelling in the back of the eye)
  • High blood pressure
  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain
  • Herpes zoster (shingles) with blisters, burning, itching, or pain on the skin, often on the upper body or face
  • Slow heart rate (bradycardia) or irregular heart rhythm
  • Basal cell carcinoma (a type of skin cancer that often appears as pearly bumps or other forms)
  • Weight loss
RARE
  • Pneumonia (lung inflammation with fever, cough, and breathing difficulties)
  • Macular edema (swelling in the back of the eye, causing shadows, blind spots, blurred vision, difficulty distinguishing colors or details)
  • Low platelet count (increases risk of bleeding or bruising)
  • Malignant melanoma (a type of skin cancer)
  • Seizures
  • Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) (sudden severe headache, confusion, seizures, and/or vision problems)
  • Lymphoma (a type of cancer affecting the lymph system)
  • Low neutrophil count (a type of white blood cell)
  • Nausea
  • Peripheral swelling

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you have a very weak immune system, a severe active infection (like hepatitis or tuberculosis), active cancer, or serious liver problems.
  • Do not take it if you have had a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, or certain irregular heart rhythms in the past 6 months, or if your heart rate is very slow or irregular.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or could become pregnant and are not using effective birth control.
  • Tell your doctor if you have breathing problems during sleep, an abnormal heart ECG, or if you feel dizzy or lightheaded because of a slow heart rate.
  • Tell your doctor if you take medicines that can slow your heart rate, such as beta-blockers.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had sudden fainting spells, have never had chickenpox, or are planning to get vaccinated.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any eye problems like blurry vision, swelling in the back of your eye (macular edema), or if you have diabetes.
  • Tell your doctor if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure or severe lung problems.
