How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 10 mg tablet once a day; your doctor may start you on a 5 mg dose if you have liver problems.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water, with or without food, at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

Do not take more than one dose per day; never take a double dose to make up for a forgotten one.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Genital infection (yeast infection) in the penis or vagina, causing irritation, itching, unusual discharge, or odor.
  • Back pain.
  • Increased amount of urine or frequent urge to urinate.
  • Changes in cholesterol or fat levels (seen in lab tests).
  • Increase in the number of red blood cells (seen in lab tests).
  • Decreased kidney function (creatinine clearance, seen in lab tests) at the start of treatment.
  • Dizziness.
  • Rash.
RARE
  • Too much fluid loss from your body (dehydration), with symptoms like a very dry or sticky mouth, little or no urine, or a fast heartbeat.
  • Thirst.
  • Constipation.
  • Waking up at night to urinate.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Weight loss.
  • Increased blood creatinine levels (seen in lab tests) at the start of treatment.
  • Increased blood urea levels (seen in lab tests).
  • Kidney inflammation (tubulointerstitial nephritis).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Figozap if you are allergic to dapagliflozin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you have symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, extreme thirst, confusion, unusual sleepiness, or fast breathing, as these could be signs of diabetic ketoacidosis. Do not take this medicine if you suspect ketoacidosis.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have pain, tenderness, redness, or swelling in your genital or anal area, especially with fever, as these could be signs of a serious infection called Fournier's gangrene.
  • Stop taking Figozap and contact your doctor as soon as possible if you have a severe urinary tract infection, with symptoms like fever, chills, burning when you pee, or back/side pain. Also, tell your doctor immediately if you see blood in your urine.
  • Contact your doctor as soon as possible if you experience very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially if you also take insulin or sulfonylurea, with symptoms like shakiness, sweating, strong anxiety, fast heartbeat, hunger, headache, vision changes, mood changes, or confusion.
