How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 4 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor may increase this to one 8 mg tablet once a day if needed.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew it. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day (maximum 8 mg).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to fesoterodine, peanuts, soy, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you cannot fully empty your bladder (urinary retention).
  • Do not take this medicine if your stomach empties very slowly.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma (high pressure in your eye).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).

  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe inflammation or sores in your large bowel (ulcerative colitis).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have an abnormally large or stretched large bowel (toxic megacolon).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have kidney or moderate to severe liver problems AND are taking certain other medicines (e.g., for fungal infections, HIV, bacterial infections, or depression).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as its effects on pregnancy or breast milk are not known.
  • This medicine can cause blurred vision, dizziness, and drowsiness. Do not drive or use machines if you experience these effects.
  • In rare cases, severe allergic reactions (swelling of the face, mouth, or throat) can occur. Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if this happens.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Consider potential adverse effects, such as tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 25.11.2024)
