Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Severe chest pain, irregular or pounding heartbeat.
  • Bleeding in the brain (symptoms like trouble speaking, dizziness, or weakness on one side of the body).
  • Feeling like you are losing touch with reality (psychosis).
  • Allergic reaction (e.g., rash, itching).
  • Large pupils, increased pressure in the eye.
  • Feeling restless, anxious, nervous, or confused.
  • Headache, trouble sleeping, shaking.
  • Burning, prickling, itching, or tingling sensation on the skin.
  • High blood pressure (with headache, shortness of breath, tiredness).
  • Difficulty breathing, fluid in the lungs.
  • Nausea, vomiting, sweating.
  • Pale skin, goosebumps.
  • Tissue damage at the injection site.
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Difficulty or inability to urinate.

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you are allergic to phenylephrine or any other part of this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have high blood pressure or other heart problems like a slow or fast heartbeat or chest pain.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have poor blood circulation, especially in your hands, feet, or brain, or if your arteries are hardened.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have diabetes, glaucoma (high pressure in the eye), or an overactive thyroid gland.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you are taking certain medicines for depression (MAO inhibitors) or have taken them in the last two weeks.

  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby.
