Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Chest pain or angina
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Feeling your heart pounding in your chest
  • Brain hemorrhage (speech problems, dizziness, paralysis on one side of the body)
  • Psychosis (losing touch with reality)
  • Allergic reaction
  • Abnormally large pupils
  • Increased eye pressure (worsening of glaucoma)
  • Irritability
  • Agitation (restlessness)
  • Anxiety
  • Confusion
  • Headache
  • Nervousness
  • Insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or waking up)
  • Tremor (shaking)
  • Burning sensation on the skin
  • Tingling, itching, or numbness of the skin (paresthesia)
  • Slow or fast heartbeat
  • High blood pressure
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fluid in the lungs
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Sweating
  • Pale skin
  • Goosebumps
  • Tissue damage at the injection site
  • Muscle weakness
  • Difficulty urinating or inability to urinate (urinary retention)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to phenylephrine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure.
  • Do not use if you have poor circulation in your limbs (peripheral vascular disorder).
  • Do not use if you are taking certain antidepressants (MAO inhibitors) or have stopped taking them less than 2 weeks ago.
  • Do not use if you have a very overactive thyroid (severe hyperthyroidism).

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, such as a slow heartbeat, irregular heart rhythm, or chest pain.
  • Tell your doctor if you have poor circulation in your brain.
  • Tell your doctor if you have hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis).
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes.
  • Tell your doctor if you are receiving oxytocin treatment, especially after childbirth, as it can cause a sudden and severe increase in blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have narrow-angle glaucoma.
