Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Chest pain or pain caused by angina.
  • Irregular heartbeat, palpitations, slow or fast heart rate.
  • Brain hemorrhage (with symptoms like speech problems, dizziness, or paralysis on one side of the body).
  • Psychosis (loss of touch with reality).
  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity).
  • Enlarged pupils, increased eye pressure (worsening of glaucoma).
  • Restlessness, anxiety, confusion, headache, nervousness, insomnia, tremor, skin tingling or itching, increased sensitivity.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Difficulty breathing, fluid in the lungs.
  • Nausea, vomiting.
  • Sweating, paleness (pale skin), goosebumps, tissue damage at the injection site.
  • Muscle weakness, difficulty urinating or inability to urinate.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to phenylephrine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease, are taking MAO inhibitors, or have an overactive thyroid.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems (such as chronic heart disease, arrhythmias, or angina) or narrow-angle glaucoma.
  • Phenylephrine can worsen severe heart failure.
