How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or nurse will determine the right dose for you.

Method

It is given as an injection directly into a vein (intravenously) by a doctor or nurse.

Important

The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Headache
  • Slow heart rate (reflex bradycardia)
  • Exhilarated mood
  • Agitation, restlessness
  • Unusual heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • High blood pressure
  • Chest pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to phenylephrine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have high blood pressure.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have poor circulation in your arms or legs.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have an overactive thyroid gland.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are taking certain medicines that narrow blood vessels (e.g., ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, methylphenidate, or decongestants for the nose or mouth).

  • Do not take this medicine if you are taking certain medicines for depression (non-selective MAO inhibitors) or have stopped them less than 2 weeks ago.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a shallow front part of your eye or have had a sudden increase in eye pressure (acute angle-closure glaucoma) before.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse before taking this medicine if you are elderly.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse before taking this medicine if you have heart problems such as a slow heart rate, partial heart block, heart muscle disease, or poor blood flow to your heart.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse before taking this medicine if you have poor blood circulation in your brain.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse before taking this medicine if you have hardening and thickening of your blood vessel walls (arteriosclerosis).
  • Tell your doctor or nurse before taking this medicine if you have diabetes.
  • Your blood pressure will be closely monitored during treatment.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, this medicine should only be given if absolutely necessary.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines.
