How to Use

Dosage

Each patch contains medicine for 3 days (72 hours). Your doctor will prescribe the right strength for you.

Method

Change the patch every three days at the same time of day. Always remove the old patch before applying a new one. Apply the patch to clean, dry skin on your upper body or arm (adults) or upper back (children). Never cut or divide the patch.

Important

Use one patch at a time as prescribed by your doctor; each patch is changed every three days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • nausea, vomiting, constipation

  • loss of appetite
  • sleep difficulties
  • depression
  • feeling agitated or confused
  • seeing, hearing, or smelling things that are not real (hallucinations)
  • muscle tremor or spasms
  • unusual skin sensations, such as tingling or prickling (paresthesia)
  • spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • feeling rapid or irregular heartbeats (palpitations, tachycardia)
  • high blood pressure
  • shortness of breath
  • diarrhea
  • dry mouth
  • stomach pain and indigestion
  • heavy sweating
  • itching, rash, and redness of the skin
  • inability to urinate or empty the bladder completely
  • feeling very tired, weakness, or general feeling of illness
  • feeling cold
  • swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet (peripheral edema)
RARE
  • feeling agitated or disoriented in time and place
  • strong feeling of well-being (euphoria)
  • decreased sense of touch or sensitivity, especially in the skin (hypoesthesia)
  • forgetfulness
  • blurred vision
  • slow heart rate (bradycardia) or low blood pressure
  • bluish skin due to low oxygen levels in the blood (cyanosis)
  • lack of bowel movements (ileus)
  • itchy rash (eczema), allergic reaction, or other skin disorder at the patch application site
  • flu-like illness
  • feeling of altered body temperature
  • fever
  • muscle twitching
  • difficulty getting and maintaining an erection (impotence) and difficulty having sex
  • difficulty swallowing
  • constriction of the pupils (miosis)
  • temporary cessation of breathing (apnea)
  • male hormone deficiency (androgen deficiency)
  • delirium (symptoms may include a combination of agitation, restlessness, disorientation, confusion, fears, seeing or hearing things that are not real, sleep disturbances, nightmares)
  • you can become dependent on Fentanyl Stada transdermal patches

Important Warnings

  • This medicine can be life-threatening if you haven't used strong opioid painkillers before.
  • Fentanyl Stada is life-threatening for children. Used and unused patches are dangerous if a child puts them in their mouth or gets them on their skin. Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Only the prescribed person should use the patch. If the patch sticks to another person's skin, especially a child's, remove it immediately and contact a doctor. This can cause severe breathing problems and even death.
  • If you or your caregiver notice unusual drowsiness or slow, shallow breathing, remove the patch immediately and call a doctor or go to the nearest hospital.
  • If you get a fever while using the patch, tell your doctor, as it can increase the absorption of the medicine.

  • This medicine can cause constipation. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice on preventing and treating constipation.
  • Do not expose the patch to direct heat (e.g., heating pad, hot shower, sauna, sun) during treatment, as it can increase medicine absorption.
  • Fentanyl Stada contains an opioid and can cause dependence.
  • Do not stop using this medicine suddenly to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your doctor about stopping.
  • Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor. Do not breastfeed for three days after removing the patch.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness and dizziness, which may affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be cautious.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. Serotonergic. Intended for the treatment of cancer pain. Not suitable for initiating opioid medication. Low transdermal efficacy in cachectic patients. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential significant interactions. (updated 24.3.2025)
