How to Use

Dosage

One patch contains enough medicine for 3 days (72 hours).

Method

Apply the patch to clean, dry skin on your upper body or arm, avoiding joints.

Important

Change the patch every three days (72 hours). Do not use more than one patch at a time unless directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

  • Stomach pain and indigestion

  • Itching, rash, and redness of the skin
  • Inability or difficulty to urinate
  • Severe tiredness, weakness, or general feeling of illness
  • Feeling cold
  • Swelling of hands, ankles, or feet
RARE
  • Unusual sleepiness or shallow breathing
  • Sudden swelling of face or throat, severe skin irritation, redness, or blistering (signs of allergic reaction)
  • Seizures
  • Reduced consciousness or loss of consciousness
  • Intense feeling of well-being (euphoria)
  • Memory loss
  • Blurred vision
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Bluish skin due to low oxygen
  • Lack of bowel movements (ileus)
  • Itchy rash (eczema) or other skin reactions at the patch site
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection (impotence)
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Constricted pupils
  • Temporary pauses in breathing (apnea)
  • Dependence on Fentanyl Stada
  • Delirium (confusion, restlessness, disorientation, fear, hallucinations, sleep problems, nightmares)

Important Warnings

  • Fentanyl Stada can be dangerous for children and may cause life-threatening side effects if misused or given to people not regularly taking opioids. Keep out of reach of children.
  • If a patch accidentally sticks to another person, especially a child, remove it immediately and contact a doctor, as it can cause severe breathing problems or death.
  • Do not use Fentanyl Stada if you are allergic to fentanyl, have short-term pain, or have difficulty breathing slowly or shallowly.
  • Use can lead to dependence. Tell your doctor if you have had substance abuse problems or mood disorders.
  • Discuss with your doctor before use if you have a history of lung, respiratory, heart, liver, kidney, or brain conditions, prolonged headaches, or head injuries.

  • Avoid direct heat while the patch is on your skin (e.g., heating pads, hot baths, saunas, or sun exposure), as it can increase medicine absorption and lead to overdose.
  • If you develop a fever while using the patch, tell your doctor, as fever can increase the absorption of the medicine through the skin.
  • Fentanyl Stada can cause constipation. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice on preventing or treating it.
  • Do not drink alcohol or use other sedatives with this medicine without talking to your doctor first, as it increases the risk of drowsiness and severe breathing problems.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, discuss with your doctor before use. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding (within three days of patch removal).
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness and dizziness, which may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Do not drive or use machines until you know how the medicine affects you.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. Serotonergic. Intended for the treatment of cancer pain. Not suitable for initiating opioid medication. Low transdermal efficacy in cachectic patients. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential significant interactions. (updated 24.3.2025)
