How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right strength for you. Do not change the dose on your own.

Method

Apply one patch to a flat area of your upper body or arm (for adults), or upper back (for children). Replace the patch every 3 days (72 hours) at the same time of day. Always remove the old patch before applying a new one.

Important

Use only one patch at a time, replacing it every 3 days. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or wear multiple patches simultaneously.

  • High blood pressure
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Stomach pain or indigestion
  • Heavy sweating
  • Itching, rash, or redness of the skin
  • Difficulty urinating or emptying the bladder completely
  • Severe tiredness, weakness, or general feeling of illness
  • Chills
  • Swelling of hands, ankles, or feet
RARE
  • Agitation or disorientation
  • Strong feeling of happiness (euphoria)
  • Reduced sense of touch or sensitivity, especially in the skin
  • Memory loss
  • Blurred vision
  • Slow heartbeat or low blood pressure
  • Bluish skin due to low oxygen levels in the blood
  • Lack of bowel movements (ileus)
  • Itchy rash (eczema), allergic reaction, or other skin disorder at the patch site
  • Flu-like illness
  • Feeling of changes in body temperature
  • Fever
  • Muscle twitching
  • Difficulty getting or maintaining an erection and sexual problems
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Constricted pupils
  • Temporary cessation of breathing (apnea)

Important Warnings

  • This medicine can be life-threatening for people who do not regularly use strong opioid pain medicines.
  • Fentanyl Sandoz can be life-threatening for children. Used or unused patches can be very dangerous. Keep all patches safely out of reach of children.
  • If a patch accidentally sticks to another person (especially a child), remove it immediately and contact a doctor. It can cause severe breathing problems or even death.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have short-term pain, like acute pain or pain after surgery, or if you have breathing difficulties (e.g., slow or shallow breathing).
  • If you notice unusual drowsiness or slow, shallow breathing, remove the patch and call your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital. Keep the person awake and moving as much as possible.

  • Avoid direct heat (like heating pads, hot baths, or sunbathing) on the patch, as it can release too much medicine.
  • Do not drink alcohol or use sedatives (like tranquilizers or sleeping pills) without first talking to your doctor, as this can increase serious side effects.
  • Do not use during pregnancy, childbirth, or while breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor.
  • This medicine can make you drowsy or dizzy, affecting your ability to drive or use machines. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
